Laurie’s Place: A New Chapter for Toledo’s Families

On Friday, May 9th, the Toledo community gathered to celebrate the ribbon cutting and grand opening of Laurie’s Place—a milestone not just for Bella Vita Network and Mom’s House, but for every parent and child in our city who needs hope, resources, and a place to dream for the future.

Laurie’s Place is more than a building. It is the product of collaboration and faith—an answer to the question, “What if we could do more, together, for families in need?” The partnership between Bella Vita Network and Mom’s House has answered that question with a resounding, “Yes, we can!” creating a space where support is tangible and community is real.

This new center, located next to The Pregnancy Center of Greater Toledo, doubles the capacity for Mom’s House to serve children and families, while also providing a home for Bella Vita’s growing parenting and pregnancy education programs. The “To-get-her Space”-a wing dedicated to wraparound services-will host more than two dozen community partners, from job services to mental health providers, ensuring that every mom, dad, and child who walks through these doors can access the resources they need to thrive.

But Laurie’s Place is also a tribute. Named in honor of Laurie Moore, a woman whose home was always open and whose heart was always set on making others feel like family, this center carries forward her legacy of welcome and warmth. Her story reminds us that what matters most is not the size of our accomplishments, but the depth of our compassion and the strength of our community.

As we cut the ribbon, we also cut away the barriers that have too long kept families from the help they need. Laurie’s Place stands as a promise: that in Toledo, no woman will have to choose between her future and her child’s future; that fathers will find encouragement and education; and that every family will find a seat at the table.

This is only the beginning. With programming set to expand this fall and children arriving as their mothers return to school, Laurie’s Place is poised to become a hub of hope, learning, and transformation for years to come.
